Nancy R. Kordyak

Kordyak Elementary School proudly opened its doors on August 4, 2010, in Fontana, California. The school was named in honor of Nancy R. Kordyak, an extraordinary educator whose lifelong commitment to students, families, and public education continues to inspire our school community today.

Born in Loma Linda, California, to Ralph and Hazel Feil, Nancy Kordyak graduated from San Bernardino High School before earning her degree from California State University, Long Beach. At just 21 years old, she began her career with Rialto Unified School District as a kindergarten teacher, embarking on what would become nearly four decades of dedicated service to the district.

During her career, Nancy Kordyak spent 25 years in the classroom as a kindergarten teacher before serving an additional 15 years as an educational administrator. She was widely respected for her leadership, compassion, and unwavering belief that every student deserved to feel valued, supported, and capable of success.

Those who knew Nancy Kordyak often speak less about the positions she held and more about the way she made people feel. She greeted students and families with a genuine smile each morning, creating a welcoming environment where everyone felt they belonged. Her classroom was filled with warmth, music, encouragement, and joy, while her office door remained open to students, staff, and families alike. Whether celebrating accomplishments or helping someone through a difficult day, she led with kindness, patience, and understanding.

Nancy believed that strong schools are built on meaningful relationships. She fostered lasting friendships among colleagues, partnered closely with families, and inspired a culture of collaboration that extended far beyond the school day. Her impact reached generations of students, educators, and families, many of whom continue to carry forward the values she modeled throughout her career.

Today, Kordyak Elementary strives to honor that legacy by creating a school where every student is known, every family is welcomed, and every staff member is valued. We are committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where academic excellence, meaningful relationships, and a strong sense of belonging guide all that we do.

The naming of Kordyak Elementary stands as a lasting tribute to Nancy R. Kordyak's remarkable life of service. Her legacy continues to remind us that the greatest impact an educator can make is helping others feel seen, supported, and genuinely glad they are here.
